That Truth will be revealed…

Recently the words “That Truth will be revealed and the real facts come into the light” came to my attention. You know there is a saying that says: There are two sides to the story, my side and your side. But actually there are 3 sides to every story, my side, your side and the right side! I want to focus on the right side of the story.

Collins English dictionary defines truth as: the quality of being true, genuine, actual or factual – Something that is true as opposed to false. Now it seems to me like the “problem” does not lie with the truth but rather with us human beings in recognizing the truth.

A certain group of people for example, believe that if they kill themselves and take as many innocent people with them in their act, they will receive many special rewards in heaven compared to those who don’t. Now surely they believe with all their heart that this will happen for them otherwise they will not participate in these actions? Am I right here? The “truth” for them is this fact. They will not commit this act if they did not believe it to be the “truth”.

From the following scriptures we see that truth is a quality that can be found in humans in the following manner.

1. Your WORDS can be the truth. Gen 42:16
2. Your WALK can be in the truth. 1Ki 2:4
3. He who BREATHES out truth. Pro 12:17
4. We can also SEE the truth. Matt 11:6
5. We can also HEAR the truth. Matt 4:24

So if truth is not this illusive object, then how come in our society the walking, seeing, telling and breathing of the truth is so utterly twisted?? Why can’t we see the same truth?

To get to the answer we need to go to the heart. “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs and tries the heart” Prov 21:2. Here is the snag. You see the group up here believes in their own eyes their way is right, that it is the truth. Two different churches believe in their own eyes their way is right… Two people in the same congregation can believe in their own eyes their way is right. A husband and a wife can belief they are right etc. Then the mistake we can make is to trust our own heart and go along with it. Does the word not say “The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it, perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind”? Jer17:9

You see the desire for truth is lacking in all of us. Why? Because we already think we know it.  We don’t go after it anymore. We are too busy building our ministries, homes, business and social skills. We take it for granted because we are born-again we are in the truth. That is not always the case. In Rev 2:4 Jesus says, “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first”. You see Jesus is the truth. He is also the Word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us. If we abandon or do not pay close attention to His teachings we do not have the truth!

Paul says in Rom 1:18-21 “For God’s wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness (or heart), because God has shown it to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made. So men are without excuse. Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Because they exchanged the TRUTH of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature (that can be themselves) rather than the Creator”.

Truth knows God’s heart as it was revealed in Christ, and it knows our own hearts in the light of God’s grace and the completed work that was done on the Cross.

I am closing this teaching off with Job 12:8 “Or speak to the earth with its other forms of life, and it will teach you and the fish of the sea will declare this truth to you”. It seems that even nature and the fish declares the truth of God but we often fail to see or walk in it.

Dear Lord I desire truth in my inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart. Amen
